Zona Gail Herber
Zona Gail Herber, 86 of Eyota, MN passed away November 13, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born November 18, 1931 in Glenwood, MN to Irving and Melva Swenson. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1949. She moved to Rochester and worked at Saint Marys Hospital for three years. On January 19, 1952, she married William “Bill” Herber at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Zona was a stay at home mother until her youngest went off to school. She worked at Family Services of Rochester until retirement in 1996. She received many accolades for her compassion and dedication from the families and staff that she worked with. Mom was a great cook and proud of her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; three children, Robyn (John) Hansmeier, Mike (Lynn) Herber both of Rochester, and Brian (Rebecca) Herber of Lakeville; six grandchildren, Nate (Lisa) Hansmeier, Tracy (Thereasa) Hansmeier, Chad (Kasi) Herber, Jamie (Rob) Koehler, and Andy and Brett Herber; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Connie Koball of Spring Valley.
Zona is preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank Arbor Garden staff, Laurie Vlasak and Sara Jacobsen from Mayo Palliative Care Homebound Program, and Seasons Hospice for all of their support.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bear Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Grand Meadow, MN.
