Yan was preceded in death by her parents Som and Suk as well as her older brother and husband Nim Nou.  She was born in Takeo, Cambodia and immigrated to the US with her husband and their children in 1986.

Condolences

The family of Yan Som has received the following condolences.

Yeay was a beautiful woman with a loving heart who I was privileged to know.  She was a strong, courageous person who had the fortitude to walk over rugged Cambodian mountains with her children to assure that they could live and thrive.  In the Thai camps she protected her daughters against predators and brought them safely to the US.  She instilled in her family great love and respect.  I see that love passed through to Malem, my daughter-in-law.  I also see it in my grandchildren who she helped raise while their parents worked.  We will all miss Yeay but are also grateful that she is in a beautiful place and out of pain.

Maley and family:

My heartfelt condolences at this most difficult time!  May she rest in peace!
