Willis “Bill” Berndt

Willis “Bill” Berndt, age 84, passed away on December 28, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus.

Willis Maynard Berndt was born on October 2, 1931 in Rochester to John and Fern Berndt. He attended Rochester High School and married Shirley Krier at St. John’s Catholic Church on June 29, 1953. Bill was a self employed insurance agent in Rochester and was well respected for his trustworthiness. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Club in Rochester.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Rochester, his daughter Tamra (James) Neal of TN, sons Ron of Rochester, Timothy (Mary Beth) of St. Paul, Rick (Pam) of Rochester, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his brother Milo Berndt of Rochester his sister Joy (Ronald) Ford of Mesa AZ, and his sister-in-law Charlotte Nelson of Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert “Bob”,  John Jr., Ralph, sister-in-laws Phyllis and Lorraine.

The Funeral Mass for Bill will be at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester officiated by Father Paul Nelson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Burial of Bill’s ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery Rochester.

You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Tim, your dad was a great guy and though I had not seen him in many years I have fond memories of his presence during high school.  I'm sure we were responsible for some of his gray hair!

Bill was a good friend and I will miss him. I will recall some good times. My condolences to his family.
