William C. Arnold

William “Bill” Charles Arnold died peacefully Friday December 11th at his daughter Sue’s home in Shell Lake Wisconsin. He was born March 13th, 1928 to Lawrence and Lucille Arnold. Bill will be remembered for his loving and accepting heart.  He faced many challenges in his 87 years and met them all with a positive attitude and open mind.

Bill attended school at the Minnesota School for the deaf in Faribault Minnesota where he met his wife Geneva VanOrt.  They were married on June 17 1950 in St. Paul Minnesota and had three children, Sue, June and Wally.  Bill was very active in the Rochester Deaf Club and the Minnesota Deaf Senior Citizens club.  He enjoyed many years of family camping trips where there were many happy hours.  Bill also enjoyed fishing, the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with family.  His love of music stayed with him his entire life.  Bill worked for the Mayo Clinic for 39 years.

Survivors include three children Sue (Barb Zurn) Arnold of Shell Lake Wisconsin, June Schroepfer of New Ulm Minnesota, Wally (Peg) Arnold of Byron, MN;  one brother, Chuck (Kathie) Arnold of Prior Lake, his grandchildren Barb (Mike) Austin of Cloquet Minnesota,  Katie Schroepfer of St. Michael Minnesota, David Arnold of Rice Lake Wisconsin, Christopher (Amanda) Schroepfer of Andover Minnesota, Dan ( Merredith) Arnold of Rochester, Minnesota and  3 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nicole and Eli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lucille (Pesch) Arnold, his wife Geneva, brothers Ken and Wayne.

There will be a funeral Mass to celebrate Bill’s life at 11:00am on Thursday December 17, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.  There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.  Bill will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in Calvary Cemetery.

The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.

Will miss Bill.  Saw him at June's home last year when he was there while Sue was vacationing...he did know it was me.  Will always cherish the many camping experiences with the Arnold family and the late night beverages around the fire.  Bill never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything in spite of his own challenges. He was always the first with the hug and a 'hi Dan.'  Truly an amazing man with an amazing family.  Glad I was lucky enough to be part of his life.  God just gained a man that I am sure he is very proud to have around.  Bill, say hi to Gene for me too.
