Vivian M. Strauss
Vivian Strauss, 96, of Rochester, MN died Monday (February 9, 2015) at Madonna Towers. She was born Vivian Brown in Hastings, MN August 16, 1918 to George and Margaret Brown. After attending West Tonka High School (former Mound High School) she studied for a year at business school. She was a secretary at Sears Roebucks in Minneapolis for five years. After her marriage to Gerald they moved to Rochester, MN where she worked at the X-ray Dept. of the Mayo Clinic for a year.
While raising a family of five children she volunteered with the following organizations: Pink Lady Auxiliary at the Methodist Hospital, Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, and St. Francis Altar Society. Along with volunteering outside the home she was always active canning, baking, or sewing.
Survivors include her four sons, Frank (Robin) Strauss, Thomas (Lyn) Strauss, and George (Nan) Strauss of Rochester, MN, Robert (Mary Jo) Strauss of Winona, MN, and daughter Collette (George) Moreno of San Antonio, TX., six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Bonnie Mikelson of Tucson, AZ, and brother, Col (Ret) William Brown of Lacey, WA.
She was proceeded in death by her husband and one brother.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Madonna Towers Chapel, 4001 – 19th Ave. NW in Rochester with the Rev. Donald Schmitz officiating. Lunch will follow. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until 11:30AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Madonna Towers.

Our deepest condolences go out to you. Losing a mother is one of the hardest loses you can go through.
Know you are in our thoughts and prayers throughout the entire time of mourning. She is in a better place and is now worshiping the Lord in heaven. She had a full life and everyone will think of her often.

Condolences on Vivian's passing. I remember her as a lovely, gracious woman. My parents, Jim and Elizabeth Majerus, always enjoyed visiting with them. They were friends for a long time. Will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
