Timothy Sean Riley

Timothy Sean Riley, 56, of Eyota, Minnesota, joined his parents, James Thomas and Dorothy Ruth Tushaus, and sister Mary Katherine Solomon in heaven on Friday, May 16, 2014.  Born on August 24, 1957 in Rochester, Minnesota and raised in Richardson, Texas, he returned to Minnesota to marry Catherine Marie DeRouin on the front lawn of their country home where they raised eight children.

Tim brought his eye for detail and respect for quality craftsmanship to his contracting business, Riley Quality Carpentry, that was his profession, and to the never-ending personal projects that were his passion. Classic country music and western films, a thermos of black coffee, card games with family, the peace of country life and quiet time by a fire, fishing or reading were a few of the things he appreciated.

He was “Papa Bear” to Sean Patrick, Spencer Michael, Jaqueline Rayne and Ryan Kevin Olson, Shannon Marie and Matthew Richard Turek, Nicholas James, Peter Joseph, Owen Thomas and Kayla Mae; and Grandpa to Lachlan Alexander, Colton James, Riley Rayne and Lucas Richard.  Deep-rooted belief in tradition, respect for hard work, and love for family were principles he exemplified and inspired in his children, of whom he was especially proud, and in everyone he met.  His siblings, Terrence William, Mary Patricia, Joseph Patrick, Thomas Michael and John Christopher remember him fondly, as do the rest of his extensive community of family, friends and acquaintances.  Those who knew him will never forget his humor and love of wordplay, his distinctive deep voice and facial hair, and his comfortingly powerful grip and commanding physical presence.

The family extends an invitation to remember Tim in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St SE, Rochester, MN 55904, on Sunday, May 18th, from 4p.m. to 7p.m.  The funeral mass will be officiated by family friends, Rev. Andrew Vogel and Rev. Kurt Farrell, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 18 E 2nd St, Eyota, MN 55934 on Monday, May 19th at 10:30a.m., preceded by a one hour visitation.
