Thomas V. Glarner

Thomas Virgil Glarner, age 55 passed away peacefully at Season’s Hospice Home in Rochester on April 30, 2013 following a battle with cancer.

Thomas “Tommy” was born on April 5, 1958 in Rochester to Bud and Jeanne Glarner. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1976. Tom held a variety of jobs while working passionately on his drumming skills. Following schooling at the University of Minnesota, he entered the world of I.T. He worked for the U of M, and was working for T.S.I. Inc. in Shoreview, MN at the time of his death. He was an accomplished drummer, and was a member of various rock bands including Messendger, Lex Luther, and Eternal Teenagers.

Tom is survived by his mother Jeanne, a daughter: Nissa (Shawn) Butterfield of Kenyon, MN, four grandchildren: Carter, Amber, Payton, Jaeda, three sisters: Mary Tennison (Jim) of Grand Rapids, MN, Nancy Klampe (Kim), Lori Eggert (Dave) both of Rochester, numerous beloved nieces and nephews and his dog Maggie-Moo.

He is preceded in death by his father Virgil “Bud” a nephew Jamie Tennison, his uncle Dale, and Tommy Steele.

A memorial service for Tom will be held on Monday, May 6 2013 at 11:00AM at Bethany United Methodist Church with pastor Wesley Gabel officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

I was so saddened to find out about Tom's passing. I am a very, very distant friend. We were kids in 1976 and wreckless at times, but one of those crushes I'll never forget. Rest in Peace Tom and may the Lord comfort your family.

so sorry to here about your loss not sure you all remember me. I remember you all.  I was the yard boy for your grandparents in pine island Mary and Harry olson but i always remember tommys smile and always being in a big hurry.  I now live in Fort Collins Co. maried with a 13year old still read rochester paper daily.

My deepest sympathy for your lose. Tom was an amazing person and I am a better person for knowing him. I feel as though I also lost a brother seeing as how I have known him since I was a little girl. Jeanne, I always considered you my 2nd Mother, and I cannot begin to know what you are going through.
