Thomas Vernon Campbell

Thomas Vernon Campbell, age 71, of Rochester, MN, died suddenly Friday, July 31, 2020 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Thomas was born January 30, 1949 in Rochester, the son of Thomas and Clara (Hofschulte) Campbell. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1967. After graduation, he honorably served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Pamela Kolb in May, 1970, and to this union 3 children were born. Pamela preceded him in death in July, 1993. He was united in marriage to Teresa on October 19, 1996. He gained a step-son at that time, Denis Nizinski. Tom worked in the Building Utility Maintenance area at Mayo Clinic for 47 years. Tom loved fishing, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Anderson of Stewartville, daughter, Kristie (Chad) Wandler of Rhinelander, WI, and son, Daniel of Albert Lea, MN; step-son, Denis Nizinski; 3 grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Wandler, and  Hope Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael (Nancy) Willett of Noblesville, IN, Donna Willett, O’Fallon, IL, and Marsha (Dale) Strubhardt in Aviston, IL; nephew, Robert Williamson of Trenton, IL; many other nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Shelby.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws: Eugene and Dorothy Willett.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Due to current restrictions, seating will be limited for the funeral service. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home, from 9 – 11AM. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Preston, MN.

Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester.

Sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Tom at Mayo for many years. We had many good times at work and outside of work that I will always remember. He will be missed.

My family & i had lived next to Tom & Teresa for years , broke all of our hearts when we had moved a few years ago . They were truely the best neighbors we ever had , & i’m so thankful for all the time we’d spent with them . My dog Magic loved going over & playing w/ their dog Abby as well haha . Tom will truely be missed , sending love & prayers to Teresa & the rest of their family♥️
