Thomas (Tom) Roth

Tom Roth,87, of Rochester MN, joined his beloved Jean (“Wifey/Trixie”) on Dec 24, 2023, after a battle with dementia.

Tom was born on December 11, 1936, to Sylvester and Marguerite (Pierce) Roth in La Crosse, WI.  He grew up in the La Crescent, MN area with his 5 siblings.

Tom attended La Crosse, WI Acquinas High School, graduating in 1955.  He met the love of his life, Jean Meadows, while she was still in middle school, and they were married in 1960. He had enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves at age 17 and served an 8 year term.

Tom and Jean moved to Rochester MN and had three children, Sue, Pat and Tim. Tom was an adventurous person always making the most of every weekend or vacation.  Camping and road trips with the family were numerous.

Tom’s career at IBM spanned nearly 30 years and he retired at the very young age of 49.  Soon after, he enrolled in the Winona Technical Institute truck driving school and received his diploma and license to drive 18 wheelers, something he had always wanted to do.  This launched his 2^nd career driving truck part time for Rochester City Delivery.  In addition to his IBM job, he also had a snow plowing business for many years.

Traveling by motorcycle was his favorite thing and he & Trixie rarely missed the annual Sturgis bike rally over 40 years, his last trip being a little over 4 years ago at the age of 83.  They spent their winters in Arizona for more than 25 years.  A very social man, Tom was quick with a silly joke and always available to help anyone in need.

Tom is survived by daughters Sue (Tom) Brytowski and Pat (Chris) Adamson, son Tim (Kelly) Roth, grandchildren Jakob (Hannah Huff) and Jessica (Shawn Staples) Brytowski, Spencer and Christian Adamson, Hannah, Will and Luke Roth, brothers Bill and Dan (Bonnie) Roth and sister Dorothy (Pete) Stankovich, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Bob, his wife of 63 years, Jean, and many good friends.

A private family service is being planned for a future date.
