Thomas F. Haddad

Thomas Fred Haddad, age 67, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, November 12, 2015, with his three daughters Tufia, Holly, Briana (Fox) Haddad by his side.

Tom was born on September 12, 1948 in Duluth, MN. As the youngest of three, his immediate and extended family were his fishing, hunting and life guides. He served his country in the U.S. Army, enlisting with friends so they could embark together.

He asked her to dance, and then married Anne Christine Rothstein on May 12, 1973 in Cold Spring, MN. Together they raised three girls in a house filled with love, music, dance, faith, bountiful meals, after school and outdoor activities, and gatherings with family and friends.

Tom was the Wine Guy at Andy’s Liquor. It was his hobby, vocation, and joy. His humble spirit, empathy, wisdom and kindness shined even brighter when he incorporated this passion with community service through charity wine events.

Throughout his life, Tom exuded love, perspective, courage and resiliency. He lived a rich life simply. He watched sunsets and cloud lightening with wonder, led by example that slowing down unveiled the beauty in every day, and with sincerity made dear friends of acquaintances and customers. He truly enjoyed the moment, unless it was before 9 am and without coffee.  To that point, Tom loved: family dinners, his classic Weber and Kingsford charcoal, MN sports, music (especially Bob Dylan), frozen or Mr. Pizza, chocolate chip cookies, a homegrown tomato, laughter and comedy, fishing with his buddies, trips to wine country and Parker’s Notes, a game of cards, history and nature, Lebanese food, storytelling, his slippers, more coffee, a good bargain, picking out the perfect greeting card, being a grandpa, and living life guided by folk music lyrics. These traits made Tom the bright light in any room.

In addition to his daughters, he is survived by his sons-in-law Kevin Broadbent, Doug Herman, and Seth Fox and his grandchildren Jack, Luke and Beau Broadbent, and Anna Fox. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Huston; his mother-in-law Lidwina Rothstein; six sisters and brothers-in-law; and nine nieces and nephews. His wife, Anne, parents Fred and Evelyn Haddad and brother, James Haddad preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, please raise a toast to Tom. His family kindly recommends donations be made to the Anne C. Haddad Scholarship Fund with Lourdes Foundation in Rochester, MN or to a charity that honors his love of music, nature, history, and education.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30AM, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church  with the Rev. Msgr. Gerald Mahon officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00PM – 8:00PM, Monday, November 16, 2015 in the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family of Thomas F. Haddad has received the following condolences.

Dear Tufia and family:

I am a former breast cancer patient of yours while in Minneapolis.  I want to send my condolences on the passing of your father.  May all your happy memories of time spent with him ease your pain at this time.  Our love, thoughts and prayers and with you and yours.

Donna Brewers and family

On behalf of Dr. Gallagher and his staff, Brenda, Barb, Jessie, Julie and Theresa, we would would like to extend our condolences. Tom came to our office for many years and it was a pleasure to be of service to him . He will be missed by all of us. Andy's will not be the same without him.

i bought wine from Tom at Andy's since the mid-80's. He sold me some Bordeaux '89 futures that are still great. He was such a nice guy and always had a great "pick" for any occasion. I will miss him. My condolences to his family.

My sympathies to the family.  I only knew Tom through Andy's but he always had a welcoming greeting and a wonderful smile.  Was nice reading his obituary and the lovely life he lived.

so sorry on the loss of your dad.

What a wonderful man, I have fond memories of him at your home when Holly and I would practice for cheerleading, and him watching Tufia cheer.

A beautiful soul never to be forgotten.

Peace to you all.

Tufia, Holly and Briana, I worked with your Dad when he and your Mom first moved to Rochester. We had many (maybe too many!) good times with your parents. Tom was always fun to be with, I don't think the guy ever had a bad day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

RIP friend.

Greg and Joyce Walters

I will truly miss Tom's presents.  I believe Tom is happily united in heaven with his true love Anne.  So sorry for you loss.

I toast to Tom!

It's such a sorrow to lose Tom. I always enjoyed our chats at Andy's. He loved to talk about wine and i loved to talk with him. We will raise a glass of a cab he selected for us a few months ago in his honor tonight.

My deepest sympathies for all of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts are with you Brianna, Holly, and Tufia.  I have many (now old) but very fond memories of your  Dad.  I loved reading what was written about him in the obituary.  I feel blessed to have known him.

Tufia and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Your father will surely be missed.  Many Blessings,  Wanda
