Sy Khamda

Sy Khamda, 56, left with the lord, on Tuesday April 24 2018 at Edenbrook of Rochester Nursing Home.

On March 1, 1962, Khamda was born to Kham Wannavong, Phan Wannavong & Phone Chaiping in a village located in Sayaboury, Laos. Around the 1980’s, she married Vone Khamda. Vone Khamda passed away on February 13, 2005. At the same time they married, Sy and Vone traveled to Thailand.  Soon later, they gave birth to a set of female twins, Naree and Phaengdy Khamda.  Soon after, Sy and Vone immigrated to the United States and decided to settle down in Stockton, CA. In 1993, Sy gave birth to her last child, Shinice Khamda. And down the road, she would gain many grandchildren.

Sy was a strong, loving, and most-kind hearted women. In 2003, she faced a life-changing event that caused her to become paralyzed on the left side and left her in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Sy didn’t let this slow her down. She continued doing what she wanted.  She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, and chatting on the phone with her family and friends.  Sy Khamda loved everyone who stepped a foot in her house. She loved spending time family and enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children; Naree Khamda, Phaengdy Khamda, Shinice Khamda and her stepdaughter, Han Vilai, her parents, Kham and Phan Wannavong, 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 12 siblings, She was preceded in death by her husband Vone Khamda, her father Phone Chaiping, and her beloved sister Boualai Kala.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. 1105 12th ST SE, Rochester, MN 55904.
