Suzanne Catherine Overland

The memorial service for Suzanne Catherine Overland will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Suzanne Catherine Overland passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Samaritan Bethany Heights Nursing Home.  Suzanne Catherine Tilford was born on January 3, 1929 in Austin, MN. At the age of three months, she and her parents moved to Rochester, where they lived with Suzanne’s grandparents, John and Susan Cochran on 11th Avenue SW. When she was nine years old, the family moved to a farm located south of Rochester. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1946. In 1949, Suzanne met Vernon Glen Overland on a blind date, and the couple married on April 7, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. The couple later moved to the Twin Cities, where Vernon owned an excavating business. Suzanne and Vernon spent many summers on Leach Lake. In 1988, Vernon passed away, and soon after, Suzanne moved to Rochester to be closer to her family.

She is survived by two sisters, Virginia (James) Biwer of Kasson, and Ruth Schoenfelder of Stewartville, a brother, Bob (Donna) Tilford of Mazeppa and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Suzanne was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church for over twenty years and enjoyed many hours of quilting with her church friends.  She loved reading, the Twins, and especially her dogs.

Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws of Rochester.
