Susanne Marie Sheehan

A memorial service for Susanne M. Sheehan will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN with Kevin Sheehan officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18th at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and a half hour prior to the service.
Susanne, 68, of Oronoco, MN, passed away suddenly after a brief illness at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary’s campus.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, also known as Lake City, MN, Susanne Marie Roland was born on July 20, 1946 to James and Ruth Roland. She grew up on the family farm in the Mazeppa area and moved to Pine Island when she was in 6th grade. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1964. On October 26, 1979, she married Gary M. Sheehan in Rochester, MN. The couple started their life together in Rochester and moved to Stewartville, MN to raise their children. In April 2008, Susanne and Gary moved to their beloved lake house on Lake Zumbro, near Fisherman’s Inn.
Susanne retired from Rochester Community and Technical College as Director of Human Resources in May 2003, after more than 25 years, beginning her career as secretary to President Charles E.Hill. She spent her retirement doting on her cherished grandchildren, James, Juliet, Vienna, Caden and Carsen. Her hobbies included collecting Star Wars, Star Trek and Beatles memorabilia. Susanne was an avid John Lennon fan and was passionate about the feminist movement. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, crypto quotes and Sudoku, watching Days of Our Lives and keeping up on current events while enjoying the view from her lake home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Danielle Renee of St. Paul, MN, and Katie (Craig) Nagel of Stewartville, MN, a son, Chris Sheehan of Stewartville, MN; five grandchildren; and her sister Rosalie Roland of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
As Susanne would say, “Live long and prosper.” ~ Mr. Spock

Condolences

The family of Susanne Marie Sheehan has received the following condolences.

My sympathy on your loss. I pray that the God of all comfort give you what you need now and fortify you for the days ahead. Psalm 147:3: "He heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds."~jw.org

Susanne,

Although we never met, I have had the great privilege of getting to know two of your kids over the past half of year, Katie and Chris. I hear Katie speak of you as her best friend and I know that your children will feel a great loss for the rest of their lives. I promise to help them through their grief. I look forward to hearing the warm stories that Katie shares of you for many years to come. I will no doubt regretfully miss out on the opportunity to have liberal feminist debates with you where I have heard you would argue your point and challenge mine until I agree to your way of the world for that topic.

I look forward to seeing your spirit through your children and grandchildren...while you watch upon them, from a Galaxy, Far...Far..Away.
