Steven D. Schultz

The funeral service for Steven D. Schultz will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, November 24 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester with the Rev. Dave Hammond officiating.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.  There will be a visitation from 5:00-8:00PM on Monday, November 23 at the Macken Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Steve died at the age of 51 years on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.

Steven (Steve) Dean Schultz was born on September 29, 1958 to Arthur & Muriel (Stevens) Schultz in Lanesboro, MN.  He was raised on the family farm near Fountain, MN and graduated from Preston High School in 1977.  He graduated from Austin Vocational-Technical Institute with a degree in Electronics and was hired by IBM in 1979.  He also owned a Zenith Television franchise (Schultz Electronics) for several years.  On September 28, 1991, he married Kristiann (Kristi) Hovland in Alexandria, MN.  They made their home on a farm near Wykoff, MN and later moved to rural Chatfield in 1999.

Steve enjoyed farming; raising beef cattle, sheep, corn, grains, and hay.  He also enjoyed golfing, family roadtrips, car drives, carpentry, remodeling/building, history, and western movies.  He was a man of ideas, practical jokes, strong opinions, and fierce loyalty.  He was well-loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kristi; daughters, Tara and Jodi; and son, Jacob, all at home; three brothers, Donald of St Louis Park, Jerry (Janice) of Preston, and Lyle (Sheryl) of Chatfield; three sisters, Diane (Earl) Kinneberg of Rochester, Jane Christensen of Rochester, and Mary (Lloyd) Flint of Dodge Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Christensen.

Memorials can be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
