Sister Mary Kay was a true sign of the love of the Holy One for all of us. Her gentleness, kindness and love will never be forgotten.
May she rest in peace.
Sister Mary Kay was the nicest person I’ve ever met. She was astoundingly kind. I had the honor of knowing her for many years, sharing and breaking bread with her at our Saint Harold gatherings. Her calm presence was like a Christ-light to me in that I felt an inner peace whenever I talked to her. I remember her gentle voice and hear it as I think of her. Her courage as a social justice advocate, her willingness to sacrifice for others and her ability to live a life of grace inspire me still.
I had the pleasure of working with Sister Mary Kay when she worked at 8th Day. It was a joy to be with her. I consider her one of the sweetest persons I have known. Thank you Mary Kay for all you did to helo the world be a better place.
Sister Mary Kay was such a wonderful, selfless person. I worked with her for many years in various political activities. I was also her attorney anytime she got arrested. She was such a gentle person who was unwavering in her support of and work for justice. She will be missed.

Mary Kay was and will continue to be a light in my life, knowing her through the St Harold community. She is such a role model for being a deeply compassionate and tremendously fierce advocate for all people, especially those who struggle. She was a true Christian, carrying out Jesus’ Beatitudes through her life, always with a smile and twinkle in her eyes.
With sympathy,
Julie SF
My deepest condolences. I was blessed to work with Mary Kay at 8th Day for 5 years at 8th Day Center for Justice and participate with her in the Uptown Ministry. Mary Kay had a beautiful heart and was kind to all she encountered. She was an advocate for the marginalized and consistently worked for justice and peace. My heart is saddened but her memory will live on. She inspires me to be a better person and strive for advocating for peace and justice. Mary Kay Flannigan PRESENTE!
I worked with Mary Kay at 8th Day Center for Justice for many years. She was a gentle but resolute spirit. Her gentle strength impacted many people and called others to take a stand. She said something to the effect that if I (Mary Kay) and older gray haired women can speak out that maybe others will sense they can too. She will be missed. Her's was a life well spent. I tip my hat, raise a glass and say, "Mary Kay Flanigan. Presente. I'm sure she is keeping an eye on all of us to keep strong in the struggle. Surely she rests in God's heart now.
So very sad to learn of the passing of my Auntie Kay Kay. She was a beautiful soul. I have many fond memories of her coming to visit. Being the youngest, she always got my bedroom when she would visit. I loved it because it ment Auntie Kay Kay was coming. She taught me to play the guitar. Seems like she always had time for me when I was a little girl. Later in my life I loved her political activism and how she always stood up for the little guy. Auntie Kay Kay you will be missed. She was an Angel on earth and has just moved on to her permanent job an Angel in heaven
I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know your Aunt Mary Kay in Chicago as I prepared to become a Cojourner with the Rochester Franciscans. She was such a kind and beautiful person 💗! I will miss her greatly! I am so sorry for your loss.
