Shirley Anne Leiferman

Mrs. Leiferman, 91, of Rochester died on Saturday October 6, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.  Shirley was born on September 5, 1927 in Arcadia, Wisconsin to August and Blanche Cieminski.

She graduated from Winona High School and attended Winona State College (University) and graduated from the Kahler School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.  On October 29, 1949 she married John M Leiferman in Winona, Minnesota.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1996.

She was a member of the Kahler School of Nursing Alumni, Mayo Friendship Club, Rochester Sweet Adeline’s, U.S. Nursing Corp, lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and an active volunteer at the St. Francis School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brothers Bill and Bob.  She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (James) Schmitz; her son, Thomas Leiferman; grandchildren, Sarah Schmitz, John (Erika) Leiferman, Hannah Leiferman and Peter (Michele) Leiferman; great-grandchildren, Liam, Sophia and Ezra; and sisters, Delora Enright, Barbara Carpenter and Florence Renz.

Shirley loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, watching sporting events and spending time with her family.

A special thanks to the staff of Seasons Hospice, Doctor Paul Takahashi of the Mayo Clinic and her dear friends Mike and Nancy Hass who were always there for her.

The funeral for Shirley A. Leiferman will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi  Catholic Church in Rochester with Father James Seitz officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials will be used for Masses at St. Francis.

I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was s good friend and neighbor. Our family thought do much of her (and your Dad). She always brought us such delicious goodies to eat and good conversation. After my Mom left, I loved to stop over and visit. She liked to see my dog, too. She slways gave him a biscuit.


I hope you are all doing well. It is hard to lose s loved one. Please know your Mom was very special and will be missed.
