Shelda Kay Storm
Shelda Kay Storm, age 79 of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Shorewood Memory Care in Rochester, where she had made her home for the past two years.
Shelda was born on August 11, 1946, in Whittemore, Iowa, to Carl and Lela (Kinseth) Jacobson. She grew up in southern Minnesota and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1964. That same year, she married Dale Morris, and together they raised two sons, Galen and DeLane. After their divorce, Shelda later married Alan Storm on October 19, 1978 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. They made their home in Dover, where they shared many happy years together.
Music was a central part of Shelda’ s life. She and Alan managed and performed with the Whitewater Band, joined by her sons-Galen on drums and DeLane on guitar. The family made cherished memories attending steel guitar shows in St. Louis, Missouri, and built lifelong friendships within the music community. If Shelda wasn’t playing her bass guitar, she could usually be found dancing along to another band’s music.
Throughout her life, Shelda worked in many fields, including sales of jewelry and cosmetics, Queens Way clothing, office products, and mobile homes, before finishing her career at Mayo Clinic, retiring in 2014.
Following Alan’s passing in 2020, Shelda moved to Shorewood Senior Living, where she found joy and companionship in her new community until dementia gradually took hold.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of Shelda’s life. She was a devoted member of her church, sharing her beautiful singing voice in the choir and helping with fundraisers and community events. She especially treasured time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved music, baking, gardening, family reunions, walks with loved ones, and any occasion that brought people together.
Shelda is survived by her two sons, Galen (Peggy) Morris of Byron and DeLane (Beth) Morris of Rochester; four grandchildren, Jolene (Dan) Schouweiler, Shawna (Shane) Burrington, Brady Morris, and Cody Morris; 5 great-grandchildren, Jameson, Lily, and Iris Schouweiler. and Noah and Oriana Burrington; three sisters, Carla (Lester) Berning, Twila Beck, and Leanna (Dana) Meyer; two brothers, Arvin Jacobson and Lonnie (Deb) Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alan; brothers Alvin, Chuck, and Terry Jacobson, brother-in-law John Beck, and sisters-in-law Kareen (Arvin) Jacobson, Elaine (Chuck) Jacobson, and Elaine (Alvin) Jacobson.
A funeral service celebrating Shelda’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester with Pastor Adam Koglin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Shelda was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She loved the Lord and is in His loving arms now.
