Sharon K. Copeman
Sharon Kay Copeman, 84 of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Cottagewood Assisted Living. She was born on November 21, 1940, to Jonathon and Evelyn Broadwater in Preston, Minnesota.
Sharon graduated in 1958 from Preston Senior High School. She began her career at Methodist Hospital in 1972, where she was known for her compassion and professionalism. She retired from the Department of Human Resources at Mayo Clinic in 2002.
Sharon married Jerry Copeman on January 7, 1961. They had two daughters, Jillene and Nicole.
She enjoyed spending time traveling and time with her family. She and her husband spent their winters in southern Texas and summers at their cabin near Wabasha, Minnesota.
Sharon cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Copeman; two daughters Jillene Smith (Brian) and Nicole Harens (Eric); her beloved grandchildren, Hannah Loftus (Joe), Benjamin Harens, Caleb Smith, and Colin Smith; and her three great-grandchildren Jaxon, Quinn, and Harper.
Her family will forever remember her beautiful warm smile, gentle spirit and unwavering love. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Jonathon and Evelyn Broadwater, and brothers Ronald Broadwater and Donald Broadwater.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery in Preston, MN.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care given to Sharon by Cottagewood Assisted Living and Mayo Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Rochester Paws & Claws Humane Society or Evangel United Methodist Church in Sharon’s memory. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in all who knew her.
