Sharon A. Nolan

Sharon A. Nolan – Rochester

Sharon Ann Nolan, 76, of Rochester, MN, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital.

Sharon was born May 9, 1943 in Prairie du Chien, WI to Dorothy (Woods) and Francis “Ding” Smith. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1961. Sharon married Gene M. Nolan on October 21, 1961 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Sharon and Gene lived in southwest WI before settling in Rochester, MN in 1969.

Sharon was an avid reader, especially religious and political content. She loved tending to her flowers, listening to music, had a lifetime love of boating on the Mississippi river, and enjoyed evening happy hours with her husband. Sharon’s love for her family was as big as her love for the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gene, her son Kevin (partner Vicki) , daughter Patti (husband Paul), daughter Bridget (husband Scott), her 2 grandchildren, Connor and Abby, who were the apple of her eye, her beloved siblings (Patty, Peg, Larry, Tom, and Lori), and a gaggle of adored nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eldercare Services at the Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave, S.E., Rochester, MN 55904.

A rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. with visitation to follow from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN.

Condolences

The family of Sharon A. Nolan has received the following condolences.

Nolan family: Oh, so many fond memories of sleep-overs at the Nolan house?. I can still here Sharon saying to Bridget and I, when we had gotten the giggles or were carrying on about some silly nonsense, “ Honestly, girls!” What a deeply sad occasion upon which to recall so many happy an heartwarming times. I only just learned of Sharon’s illness last week. Barely time to process it... I can only imagine it from your perspective. Let her strong faith and love of God , bring you comfort, knowing she was met by the open arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. She is no longer suffering and her body is perfect. She knows no more struggles like the ones on this world. She is eternally at peace. What a humble and faithful servant! May you all find pleasure and joy in the many memories held in your hearts, and may the days to come bring a gentle healing. Sharon will no doubt be remembered by many with warmth and smiles for the way she touched their life. May God bless you all, Nolan family, with the peace and comfort that only He can give.

I worked with her many years ago at osco drug. She was one of the sweetest persons I have ever known. Prayers to you all.

Our  sincere sympathies to you Gene and family. We were surprised and saddened to read of her passing. She was such a sweet lady.

I will miss seeing Sharon at the Y. I have always enjoyed visiting with her and Gene there.  I pray that you will be blessed with many good memories of Sharon.

Gene,

I am so sorry to hear about Sharon. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
