Sharee M. Nelson

Sharee M. Nelson – Winona

Sharee Michelle Nelson passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Winona Health Services from complications of a stroke.

Sharee was born on July 16, 1966 in Litchfield, MN to N. Ronald and Marilyn (Miller) Nelson. Sharee grew up on a farm, where she appreciated the beauty of rural life. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1984. Soon after, she moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where she pursued a degree in business, earning an Associate of Arts degree from Rochester Community and Technical College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Winona State University.

While living in Rochester, Sharee worked at IBM and later was self-employed as a webmaster. In 2017, she moved to Winona, Minnesota.

Sharee cared deeply about the well-being of animals and was a passionate advocate for their care and protection.  She especially loved cats!  She also enjoyed creating visual art, including graphite drawings and portraits of people in her life.  Music was another enduring passion.  She played piano and percussion, loved attending live performances, enjoyed classic rock, and later developed an appreciation for jazz.  Sharee will be remembered for her creativity, independence, and compassion.

She is survived by her brother Randy (Marge) Nelson of Rochester, sister-in-law Diane (Mark) Nicholson, nephews, nieces, and dear friend Ted Zabel of Winona.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Lee Nelson.

Her family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Winona Health Services, the Winona Police Department, and Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse for their care, professionalism, and kindness during Sharee’s final days.

A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 from 1-3 p.m.at the Eagles Club in Winona, MN, where Sharee was a member. Burial will be at a later date at Beckville Lutheran Cemetery near Litchfield, MN.
