Scott L. Chambers

The memorial service for Scott Lynn Chambers will be at 4:00pm on Saturday June 18th, 2016 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Luke Nelson officiating.  The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Chambers, 62, of Rochester passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday.

Scott was born on March 27, 1954 in Lakeview, Oregon to William and Opal Chambers.  He graduated from Longmont High School in Colorado in 1972.  He recently retired from IBM after 38 years there.  He married the love of his life, Kathryn Dawn Chambers in Rockford, Michigan on May 10, 2015.  They resided in their “little cabin in the city” in Rochester, MN.  Early in life, Scott loved fly fishing and hunting but later it was the wind at his back and the sun in his eyes on his Harley.

Survivors include his loving mother Opal Jean Chambers, his loving wife Kathryn Dawn Chambers, his two sons Matthew Chambers and Christopher Chambers, his daughter Ashley Chambers and his granddaughter Deja Butler.

“Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather sliding in sideways totally worn out shouting; wow what a ride!”

Macken Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com

Condolences

The family of Scott L. Chambers has received the following condolences.

To Kathryn, Opal and family

I met Scott many years ago in IBM Rochester, he was a Product Engineer and I worked in the field as a Region Top Gun, when we had those tough hardware upgrades at accounts through out the states, we would often get Scott on the phone or on site to assist us with resolution. This would sometimes mean hours if not days of support till we resolved the issue, through out he stayed with the job till the customer was satisfied.

It seemed like every winter the Top Guns would meet in Rochester to develop a seminar on new equipment, and we would often ask Scott for help in developing the seminar material.

He will be missed by all that knew him, especially me.

To Kathryn, Opal and family

Having meet Scott years ago was such a blessing for us, and Kathryn when you came into Scotts life Scott just glowed with happiness, he was taken way to early from us all... our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We were so sad to hear of Scott's passing. Gary has such wonderful memories of Scott as a great friend and fishing buddy.  Although they learned to fly fish together Scott out-fished Gary every trip!  There were plenty times they got into trouble but you and Bill would set them on the right path. Thank you for the great son and friend you raised and shared with us.

In loving memory of Scott,   (Sciddy)

Gary and JoAnn Hafner, Longmont CO

It is my privilege to have met Scott a decade ago while he was in Singapore helping us at a client.

We will miss you dearly but I know you are with Christ now.

Till we meet again,

Philip Ho

I first met Scott almost 30 years ago when our IBM careers brought us both to Kansas City, Missouri.  For many years our careers and lives alike ran in parallel.  Our children are very close in age and we all enjoyed doing similar things.  From woodworking, hunting, fishing and home-educating there were many good times shared by all.  Our careers took us in different directions geographically but we managed to stay in communication.  Through the years we spent many holidays and much family time together.  I have seen Scott go through many life changes, we have experienced many of lives high and low moments together.  Our communication was limited the last couple years, and I know now it because he had met Kathryn and was spending time with the love of his life.  This is a difficult time for all, I want to thank you Kathryn for standing with him through these last days and for being with Opal in the days ahead.  Scott may be gone from our lives but he will never be removed from our hearts and memories.

With Love,

Lou & Julie Toto

Scott was a great guy to work with.  I worked with some of IBM's largest iSeries customers, and when I needed hardware help on some hot calls Scott was always there.  Thanks Scott you will be greatly missed.  Condolences to his to his family and friends.

Kathryn, Opal, Matt, Chris and Ashley.... I pray for your broken hearts that you may know Scott fought the fight like a champion and he is at peace, pain free and though no longer here with you and us, he lives. His spirit is in you, in us and you'll for certain see signs of his presence - he will speak to you in wild and crazy ways, places and times.

Your pain is our pain and I pray for us all to know there's a place where we'll all ride together someday and it will be wonderful.

Godspeed and let us celebrate his life and understand there's only one way to get to heaven.

losing a loved one is never easy especially a parent. Your dad left a great legacy in all of you and he will always be a part of you. Keeping you all in our prayers as you take time to grieve your loss, take time to also celebrate his life and the wonderful memories he left you all- Love you

Deepest condolences to Scott's family on his passing. Will miss his friendly behavior since getting to know him in 2006 when he came to Singapore to support a major customer here and over in Rochester a few months later when I attended a training course there. Took time to show me around the place and to the baseball game.  We still kept in touch till a few months ago.  He will be sorely missed here. Rest in peace  Scott.

My condolences to Kathryn Dawn & his children.  I met your husband/father face to face in 2004 we had something very powerful in common "Jesus Christ" we were on the

same page.  I have confidence on the day I expire I will see Scott again because of "Jesus Christ".  Your husband/father was an awesome individual, I'll miss him.

Sincerely  In Chris Name
