Scott Batterson

Scott Batterson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was 66 years old and was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1977.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Becki Batterson, and their two sons, Nicholas (Emily) and Justin (Anna). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Waylon, Eleanor, Olive, Rhea, Audrey, and Everly, who were the light of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Marlene Batterson.

Scott spent his career working in manufacturing, where he was known for his strong work ethic, practical wisdom, and dedication. His colleagues respected him not only for his professional contributions, but also for his kindness and steady presence.

Above all, Scott will be remembered for his deep love for his family and his generosity of spirit. He was a man of integrity, humor, and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a word of wisdom. He had a profound impact on all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through his family and friends.

Scott is also survived by his sister, Marcy Aakre, and his brother, Bruce Batterson, along with many extended family members and close friends who will deeply miss him.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at his and Becki’s home on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and share in remembering a life well lived.

Scott’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who supported him during his battle with melanoma.

Condolences

The family of Scott Batterson has received the following condolences.

Sorry for your loss Becki

I guess you could say we were literally lifelong friends. Our parents got to be best friends back in 1957 through IBM. After Scott was born,  one year to the day, I came along, and there were the Batterson/Moen get togethers for many years. When we were kids, it was their house, our house, (stock car racing in Kasson) then Florida. Scott did make us laugh.  We always looked to him for a joke. We didn't spend time together as adults, but the memories are many and priceless to me. Rest in peace my friend.

Oh how we will miss you Scott! your well-timed humorous comments, your laugh, your deep love for family and friends, and your acceptance of others.   Please know that we will do all we can to carry on your legacy! much love to your family.  Brian and Denise

We first moved to town when I was 3. We were next door neighbors to Batterson’s. I am very sorry to hear of Scott’s passing and pass on my condolences to his family. RIP Scott.

I went to school with Scott and was proud to call him one of my friends.  His obituary describes him just as how I remembered him to be. My sympathies to his family.

Becki,

Words cannot convey the sadness I feel for you and the boys.  Scott was like a second father to Joe.  Joe and Justin like brothers.  Scott was always smiling and fun to be around. He will be missed always. Prayers of peace to you and your entire family.

my sincere condolences to you, Becki and your family. Sure, I’m gonna miss this guy. Played golf all over the country with him. Trying to get as many states as we could. I will have to tee off without him, but will never forget him. He will have the best courses scouted out in heaven, and I will play with him again someday. I love you, man.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend. Thanks for the awesome memories as kids, teens and adults. Thanks for being the man that you were. You had a huge heart, infectious laugh, mischievous grin, and deep love for family and friends. We will all miss you but carry you with us in our Hearts! ❤️

All our Love,

Mike and Shirley Claffy
