Sarah V. Drake

The funeral service for Sarah V. Drake will be 1:00PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in the River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home in Rochester officiated by Rev. Bruce Buller. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at River Park Chapel on Tuesday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery in Kellogg.

Mrs. Drake, age 90, of Rochester died Friday, November 15, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital.

She was born Sarah Vivian Plank December 5, 1922 at Elgin, MN to Raymond and Jessie (Turner) Plank. She married Francis E. Drake on July 21, 1940. He died May 13, 1972. She later married Louis Boyd April 25, 1982. He died June 19, 1990. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up and later worked as an elderly caregiver until retiring in 1986.

Sarah enjoyed cooking and baking and loved having her sons come over for coffee every morning. She especially enjoyed going on bus trip to the casinos.

She is survived by four children, Kay (Richard) Miller, Robert (Marla) Drake, Edwin (Susan) Drake and Wesley (Monica) Drake in addition to 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by step-children Lois Hanson, Linda Breyer, Clarence Boyd, Calvin Boyd, Lucy Boyd, LeAnn Boyd, Chester Boyd, Cecil Boyd and Cedric Boyd plus 15 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a daughter, a great-granddaughter, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
