Mrs. Molda, age 95, of Rochester died Wednesday evening, February 10, 2016 at Croixdale Senior Housing facility in Bayport, Minnesota where she has resided since September. Previous to her move to Bayport, Ruth lived in the Rochester area for over 80 years.
She was born Ruth Irene Meyer on December 21, 1920 at Clear Lake, Minnesota to William and Mary (McManus) Meyer. As a child, she moved to rural Rochester, attending grade school here and graduating from Rochester High School.
She married Dale Molda at St. Francis Catholic Church in 1942 celebrating 52 years of marriage before he passed away in 1994. In 1998 she remarried a close family friend, Thomas Richardt, who survives her in death.
After raising three children, Ruth returned to work as an executive secretary, working for both Crenlo and Kahler Corporation. When it came to leisure activities she enjoyed a good game of cards with her friends, family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very proud of her Irish heritage adding St. Patrick’s Day as a holiday to celebrate.
She is survived by three children, Carleen (Charles) Haggerty of Park City Utah, Donna (Raymond) Stevens of Stillwater, Minnesota, David (Janet) Molda of Eagan, Minnesota and step-son Tim Richardt of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Four grandchildren survive, Kevin Haggerty, Terri (Dan) Janki, Amie (Jon) Bucksa, Matthew (Kendyl) Molda and her seven great-grandchildren, Madeline, Caroline and Ryan Janki; Gabriella and Blaisden Bucksa; Annalise and Decland Molda. A sister, Dorothy Brennan also survives.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale, her brother Donald Meyer, an infant grandson, Thomas Robert Haggerty and her grandson-in-law, Jon Bucksa.
The funeral Mass for Ruth Molda will be 11:00AM Monday, February 15, 2016 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester officiated by Rev. Kevin Connolly. Friends may call from 9:30am to 11:00am prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following a light luncheon at the church.
