Ruth Marie Jewson
Ruth Marie Jewson, 93, of Rochester passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Madonna Towers.
Ruth was born on July 10, 1924 on a farm at Fish Creek Ridge in Rockland, WI to Mengel and Emma (Bakken) Kirkeeng. She grew up with ten brothers and sisters. After graduating from Cashton High School, she worked at a Wisconsin film studio doing printing and developing of pictures. Later she worked in the Civil Service at Camp McCoy training as a dental assistant. In 1946, she married William R. Jewson. Ruth and her husband owned and operated Jewson Kirby Company in Rochester and southern Minnesota for 26 years.
Ruth served as the President of Christ United Women of Church for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church family.
She is survived by her six children, Bill (LaDonna) Jewson, Mary (Mike) Ketchum, Pam (Peter Swenson) Jewson, Barbara (Tim) Cegavske, Gary Jewson, and Scott Jewson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her three siblings, Manley, Lyle and David Kirkeeng and their spouses. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; siblings; and special friend, Clarence Hanson.
The family would like to thank Madonna Towers friends and staff for making this her home for 16 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
The family prefers that memorials be made to Madonna Towers.
