Russell J. Rendernick

Russell Rendernick, age 56, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at his home.

Russ was born July 20, 1967 in Rochester, MN to Robert “Bob” and Carol (Drake) Rendernick.

Russ was a graduate of John Marshall High School. He furthered his education at RCTC, earning a degree that propelled him into a career as a cardiac surgical technician at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys Hospital, where he created lifelong friendships and began his journey of compassion and care. Russ’s dedication to his profession touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues.

Beyond his professional achievements, Russ had many interests and passions. He had an avid appreciation for antiques, spending many hours at stores looking for hidden treasures. He had a love for cats, bringing him joy throughout his life. In his younger years, he loved the vibrant energy of Las Vegas, where he spent many adventures and creating several memories. He also had a passion and true talent for drawing and painting.

Russ had numerous friends and always enjoyed the company of others. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of sharing meals and laughter with family and friends, always sharing his great sense of humor and warmth.

Above all, Russ was a devoted uncle, immensely proud and fond of his nieces. He admired their achievements and cherished every moment spent with them.

Russ is survived by his sister, Robyn (Bucky) Adams of Zumbro Falls, MN; brother, Corey (Susan) Rendernick of Rochester and by his nieces, Melaney Adams, Graceanne, Sarah, and Katie Rendernick. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Carol.

A time to gather and remember Russ will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester, MN. OR 38 Cardiac Surgery. What a great surgical team! Russ Rendernick, Lorneza D., Randy, and others (Oh ya, and Dr. "Chop-Chop" Schaff). The day in OR 38 was always loud and busy setting up for cases, it was a happening kind of place. OR 38 was not what people would call a quiet, calm OR. Russ was always busy, moving back and forth, concentrating, swaying, and staying on top of everything underway in the OR. He was in his element, for sure! Russ was always fun-loving, chatty, friendly, with a slightly mischievous, weaselly smile! I will forever miss him. I'll never forget how anxious he would become waiting for Lorenza D. to return from her break. He probably was worried she might not return! (I was too a few times)!

I missed Lorenza D.'s passing. Russ texted me to be sure I knew about her passing, maybe a year ago. So with a heavy heart, I say goodbye to Russ and Lorenza. P.S. Both will continue to work as usual in Cardiac Surgery OR 38 forever in my heart.

You’ve been family since I was in the ninth grade. When we last spoke we were still laughing over that love letter you wrote to me as an annoying seventh grader. Your time was short here, but your friendships great. Your at rest now with your maker; a needed peace. All my love and support.

So sorry to hear this. I always remember great cases with Russ in the OR. He always knew the best places to go for lunch especially if they had soup, shared a loved of orange cats (like Marmalade) always ready to go explore somewhere new and as everyone will attest, made the best chocolate chip cookies! I will miss you Russ, you were such a great guy.

Russ  had such a kind heart, and gift for laughter and chatting.  His grin will always be a fond memory for me.
He always had that”funny”.  Can still picture him in the hallway at work, and chatting with everyone. My heart hurts as I can’t imagine this world without his  presence????  Heartfelt comfort for his family and friends.
Hope you’re singing with the Angels, Russ.

I am so deeply saddened to hear this...gotta say, some of my best days were spent in the OR with this guy...no one made me laugh harder..or agitate me more than Russ.  You had a heart of gold my sweet friend...you will be so missed...and warmly remembered.  Get a haircut Russ...;)  Love you...

My condolences to Russel’s family. I only knew Russ for a few years but it didn’t take long and we become great friends. I will cherish his humor and kindness. I’m really going to miss him.

Sending my heartfelt sympathies to the Rendernick Family at this sad time. I am so sorry for your loss, Russ was a great friend & I’m really going to miss him.
