Rozina “Rose” Nelson
Rozina “Rose” Nelson, 84, of Rochester, MN. passed away Sunday July 28th 2013, while in Dayton Nevada.
Please join her family in celebrating her life on Friday August 2nd at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN at 11 am with Pastor Karna Hagen officiating. There will be a visitation at the church starting at 10 am on Friday. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.
Rose was born to Lucy and Sylvester Welch in Rockford, Illinois on January 17th, 1929. She married Lorn Nelson on November 29th, 1947 in Rockford, and later moved to Minnesota. There they raised their five children; Dianne, Shirley, Susan, Steven and Karen.
Rose was a devoted wife and mother, and could never do enough for her family. She held a special place in her heart for all children, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always loved having her “kids” spend time with her, and never turned down the opportunity to have them visit or stay over. She tolerated the Minnesota winters, but loved the summer, and would spend as much time as possible outside working in her yard or garden. She enjoyed visiting with all of her neighbors, or anyone else that might stop to ‘chat’ while walking by. She had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around! If you ever asked her how she was feeling, her reply was always, “with my fingers”.
Rose was proceeded in death by her husband Lorn, both parents and 10 of her 14 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her five children: Dianne Lucius of Dayton Nevada, Shirley (Erv) Ponto of Elgin MN, Susan Nelson of Rochester, Steve (Cathy) Nelson of Rochester, and Karen (Bruce) Benyo of Simi Valley, California. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Brent (Judy) Gates, Matt Gates, Melissa Ponto-Norton, Nikki (Tim) Kiefer, Jessica (Joe) Nelson-Maier, Brandon Nelson, Ashley (Angel) Rojas, Andrew (Jenna) Nelson, Angela Nelson, Isaiah Minnich and Trevor Minnich. And also survived by 13 great-grandchildren: Derrick Gates, Courtney Gates, Austin Norton, Hunter Norton, Alexis Kiefer, Madison Kiefer, Ben Maier, Zach Maier, Angel Rojas, Selena Rojas, Aiden Rojas, Layla Nelson, and Austin Benyo. She is also survived by three sisters, all in Rockford.

Condolences
The family of Rozina “Rose” Nelson has received the following condolences.
I am so sorry for your loss. Rose was like a mom to me as far back as I can remember! I remember when I first met her (1975) and the first Christmas she made her fantastic rosettes! I had never had them before and was offered one out of a shoe box! Plain and powdered sugar. I took both! Matter-of-fact I took more after that! She was a great cook. I also learned to like mushrooms. Rose convinced me they were good and well they were and still are! She was always doing something to the yard, growing her veg. garden, cleaning up her raspberries, or putzing with something. I will always remember her saying about certain woman we'd talk about - she was a tough 'ol gal - she'd say! I would call her periodically over the last years just to see how she was doing. I called a couple of times about 3 weeks ago but could not reach her. I will miss talking to her. She had a lot of wisdom.....She raised 5 great kids and loved her family very much. Keep all these great memories with you. They say it gets easier as time passes. I am not sure if it does but I know the memories will always be there. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.
Dear Steve and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I am sad that I never had the chance to meet her, but knowing her wonderful son, I know that she must have been an amazing person. Know that I am here for you and that I am thinking about you so much during this difficult time.
Warm regards,
Katie, Tim and boys
I am so sorry for the loss of Aunt Rose . My thoughts and prayers are with the family during your time of grief . I am sorry that I was never able too meet her.
I always enjoyed visiting with Rose when I went on walks by her house. She was very hard worker and spent a lot of time in her yard. Many times the weather wasn't the best but she always had a great attitude and took time to visit with me and my dog. I will miss seeing her outside. My prayers are with the family.

Sue,
So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. You and your family are in our prayers. I remember a few years back when you had your aneurism, and were sleeping 2x's when I came to visit at the hospital.... your mom & I had quite the chat. She loved you dearly. What a blessing to have had a mom with such a big heart. It was a pleasure talking with her. Her troubles with this world are over, and now she's enjoying heaven's joy.
God Bless You and Your Family,
Gloria Rueber
