Rosemary Margaret Machulda

Mrs. Rosemary Machulda, 89, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018. Rosemary was born September 8, 1928 in Marshall, MN to Henry and Theresa Paradis.

Rosemary attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Marshall, MN. Following this, she worked as a dental assistant in Marshall, MN.  She married LeRoy Joseph Machulda on June 14, 1952 and after LeRoy finished college, they moved to Northfield, MN where they started their family. She also worked as a dental assistant in Northfield, LeRoy, and Isle, MN

Her love of children led to a career working in the Early Child and Family Education Program in Onamia, MN where she spent many years positively impacting the lives of young families. She had a special touch with infants and was a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and member of the International Association of Infant Massage.

Rosemary had a pleasant and gracious demeanor. She made everyone feel welcome in her home. Preparing delicious food came second nature to her, and her Christmas baking was legendary. Her outgoing personality and love for entertaining was a perfect fit for her position as a dining room hostess at Izaty’s Golf and Yacht Club on Mille Lacs Lake where she worked her charm on the guests for many summers.

After moving to Rochester in 2000, Rosemary continued with her love of caring for infants by substituting in the Infant Room at Knowledge Beginnings Daycare. She was a keen Bridge player and participated in many bridge groups for nearly 50 years. She was also an accomplished seamstress and skilled at creating works of art with her embroidering, crocheting, and knitting. She volunteered for the auxiliary at Methodist Hospital where she knitted approximately 200 caps for the newborn and NICU nurseries and received a 600-hour service certificate. Rosemary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Rosemary is survived by her brother, Victor Paradis (99, Pearl Harbor survivor) and his wife, Lucille (98) of Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Agnes (98, Marvin) Paradis of Marshall, MN; son, Al (Diane) Machulda of Cooper City, FL; daughters, Theresa (Craig) Jacobson of Leroy, MN, Joan Machulda of Duluth, MN and Mary Machulda (David Black) of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren: Michael, Brian, Caitlin, Elise, and Jack; and two great-grandchildren, Micah and Carter; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; parents; four brothers; and one sister.

The family is extremely grateful to the Staff at Madonna Towers Benedict House, Mayo Clinic Hospice and Mayo Clinic Palliative Services for their kind, attentive, and compassionate care.

Rosemary was very fond of the Chapel at Madonna Towers and spent a lot of time there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation toward the Stained Glass Window Project at the Madonna Towers Chapel (checks payable to MLCF).

Condolences

The family of Rosemary Margaret Machulda has received the following condolences.

Dear Friends,

We want to send our heartfelt sympathy to your family upon the death of Rosemary and LeRoy. We were out of town only to return  and learn that they had both died.

We treasure their friendship when we were roof-mates at The Greens and then when we visited them at Madonna Towers. Mary and David, we remember so well when Jack was born and how joyful your folks were. Seems we saw Jack often when he came to visit his Grandma and Grandma. All of you, their family, were so important to them and they talked of you often.

We send our love to you all!

Mary and Luther Olson
