Roger Alan Marcel

The funeral for Roger A. Marcel will be at 11:00am Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Roger, 59, of Pine Island passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Roger was born February 16, 1958 in Bemidji, MN to Paul and Dolores Marcel.

He attended John Marshall High School in Rochester. On January 11, 1991 he married Joan M. Sturgis of Rochester. The couple moved to a nice hobby farm in rural Pine Island, where they enjoyed caring for their horses. Roger worked as a cook at the Hubble House in Mantorville, MN. Prior to that he owned his own business, Marcel’s Family Restaurant in Kenyon, MN.

Roger loved fishing, camping and watching the Minnesota Vikings football and Minnesota Wild hockey games with his brothers in law and nephews. He also enjoyed model railroading and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of 26 years; two brothers, Gary Marcel (Rona) of Las Vegas, NV, and Craig Marcel; one sister, Tina Parker both of Prairie du Chien, WI; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog and many life-long friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dolores Marcel.

Condolences

The family of Roger Alan Marcel has received the following condolences.

Dear Joan. I am so saddened by the loss of your sweet Roger. He was one terrific guy. We had such a short time with him but he meant so much to so many. You are in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Rose

Heartfelt condolence to the Family of Roger Marcel,

There are few experiences more difficult than the loss of a loved one.  It is obvious from the many kind expressions that Mr. Marcel will be sadly missed.  Having endured such a loss, I find comfort in knowing death was not God’s purpose for mankind and his purpose has not changed.

God’s word says, “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces”. (Isaiah 25:8). So, God guarantees the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary. (Revelation 21:4).  It is because of Jehovah God’s purpose and great love for us, that the restoration of life is assured!

As you know, Jesus not only spoke of the coming resurrection (John 5:21, 28, 29), he himself was resurrected by his Father and performed many miracles including resurrections.  All such miraculous events took place on earth giving us a precious glimpse of what is to come.......seeing our loved ones again! (Acts 24:15)

As you cherish the many fond memories of Mr. Marcel, may Jehovah God continue to bless your family  during this difficult time and in the days ahead......

Sending love and condolences to family. I had the pleasure of meeting Roger through the Hubbell House. He was a good man and a wonderful Chef. I learned a great deal from him. He always told me he would get his own place and hire me in a second. He not only was an awesome co worker. He was a friend. There for me during some of my worst times. He will be greatly missed.

ROGER was an awesome amazing guy to work with he was always in a positive mood, always smiling and cracking jokes. When I would Dred going to work I would arrive and see his JEEP in the parking lot and it instantly made my day better. Talking about The Wild and Vikings and giving each other crap on the Line at the Hubble House is what will miss and have already miss of Roger. I consider him a great Friend and mentor. I bought him a Christmas present on Saturday morning I told him the last time I spoke to him that i would deliver it Today Tuesday 26th unfortunately I was not able to. I'm greatly saddened that I didn't get to give it to him I miss him very much. Rest easy Buddy!

My thoughts and prayers go to Roger's wife and family.  I am very sorry for your loss.  We had worked together at the Hubbell House and I considered him my friend.

He was a great guy to work with, an accomplished chef, and I am glad to have met him.   He will be missed.   Go Wild.

Joan, I am Sorry to hear about Roger's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and both of your families during the most difficult time.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to family and friends. May all your good memories be greater than your sadness during this difficult time. (Isaiah 25:8)
