Roger A. Watson

Roger Allen Watson – Rochester

Roger Allen Watson, 67 of Rochester passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at his residence.

Roger was born on September 10, 1957 in Rochester to William H. and Marion R. (Forney) Watson. He graduated from John Marshall High School. He worked for over 30 years at the Watson family business in Rochester along with various jobs helping others. He also worked in North Dakota for a time during the oil boom. Roger was also very proud of the sacrifices his older brother, Marine Private First Class Larry William Watson, made for our country. Roger was an avid hunter and was a generous, hardworking man, who will be deeply missed by many.

Roger is survived by his children Nita (Souk) Vongphakdy, Larry Watson, Nancy Watson, Matthew (Grace) Watson, his sister Tammy Watson, two brothers, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his “bonus family” Kevin (Brenda) Newell, their children, and great friend Dan Hanenberger.

He is preceded in death by a grandson Andrew Preap, his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The Memorial Service for Roger will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Mark Nienow. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be alongside his grandson Andrew at Oakwood Cemetery, downtown Rochester.
