Bob lived his entire life in Rochester, except for a couple years spent in California during WWII. Bob, along with his dad founded Hain and Son Auto Body in 1950. He worked there first with his dad and later with his sons who continue to run the business today. On April 5, 1950 he married Neva Street at Hesper Friends church, in Hesper Iowa. Together they raised 4 children. Bob was a dedicated family man who was always there for them.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and would never turn down the opportunity to go. He was still hunting deer and fishing with his son’s into his 80’s. Bob also enjoyed Hockey. Whether it was sponsoring his son’s youth hockey, or still climbing the steps at Graham Arena to watch his grandson play he never lost the love of the game. He particularly liked the Minnesota Wild, he would watch any team that happened to be on TV that night. Bob loved to tell stories, and would share his life experiences with anyone who would listen. Bob loved to work on and restore old cars.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Neva, 4 children, Mike (Sharon Bretto) Hain of Kasson, Linda (Steve) Gilbertson, Tom (Margaret) Hain, and Rob (Darla) Hain all of Rochester,11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Bob was extremely loved and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Condolences
The family of Robert William Hain has received the following condolences.
Bob was an important influence on my life. I enjoyed his presence, his enthusiasm for life, for family, and for cars.(Still a good guide to live by). Now I know how to wet sand a car to a hand sensitive smoothness that only comes with a lot of practice(patience) ... a lot of feathering. My "bestest" memory was riding regularly to Rochester Junior High with BOB in his 1954(?) Cadillac, I felt like I was in the Kings Court and a King was driving. He touched a lot of lives... and I want to include my personal thanks to him, and my condolences to the family, especially Neva.
Bob will be remembered as a great man with a truly great personality. He was always kind to those around. I always enjoyed serving Bob and Neva and whoever they brought in to eat breakfast with them.
Best wishes for the Hain family.
