Robert “Bob” Wear

Robert “Bob” Lewis Wear passed away at the age of 80, while hospitalized at St. Marys, in Rochester, on December 13, 2018. Family and friends were gathered at his bedside as he peacefully left this earth. He was born April 5, 1938 to Raphael “Pinky” and Margaret (Roberts) Wear in Faribault, MN

Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; sons, David, Kenny (Carol), Steve (Lana) and Jim; daughters, Lora (Steven), Denise (Joe), Julie, and Diane (Keith); grandchildren, Bekah (Ed), Julia, Matt (Morgan), Trinity, Cody, Morgan, Kassie and Noah; great-grandchildren, Trevor, AJ, Xandrah and Leif; “other children” Terri and Kevin; and many nieces and nephews.

Prior to retiring, Bob worked for Honeywell and then devoted more than 20 years to Mayo Clinic. He traveled to England, for Mayo, to bring in the first CT Scanner. The first CT scan at Mayo was a practice scan of Bob’s head. When not at work, Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, golf, bowling league, pool league, softball, canoeing. Bob enjoyed all family gatherings and activities.

During retirement, he enjoyed traveling the country and visiting family and friends. He was an amazing card player, brain teaser solver, and great bean bag toss enthusiast. Bob devoted his life to helping others. He loved driving and his willingness to make life easier and assist where he could shined through his volunteer efforts, which included the Olmsted County Volunteer Driver Program; and always being available to give rides to help friends and family. Bob enjoyed exercising daily, time at his computer, and reading trilogy books. His kind and loving spirit will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sister.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastor Steve Rheingans officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Grandview Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: PVA Paralyzed Veterans of America (801 18th Street NW, Washington DC 20006), Wounded Warriors, or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

We are so sorry for the lose of our dear cousin Bob.  We have a lot of great times with him and Joyce from shooting pool to just sitting talking over a couple beers.  Will always remember sleeping in our car in their drive way as not to wake them in the wee hours of the morning.  RIP dear cousin.  We will miss you!

Thoughts and Prayers for comfort to family and friends at this difficult time.
