Robert “Bob” Ferguson
Robert “Bob” Ferguson, 75, of Rochester, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025.
He was born December 30, 1949, in Preston, MN, to Herbert and Madelyn (Holtegaard) Ferguson. He was a 1968 graduate of John Marshall High School, Bob was drafted soon after and served proudly in the U.S. Army in Germany. In 1975, his life took a lucky turn when he met Susie Finley at Bruiser’s Pub. The two were married the following year at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bob made his living as a truck driver, known on the radio as “The Fisherman,” a fitting handle for a man who never passed up a chance to head to Lake of the Woods. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars, poker and pool nights, and tackling jigsaw puzzles. His garage was his sanctuary, where he’d polish tools, sip a drink of his special Pepsi, and do a little “drinkin’ and thinkin’.” He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, and always had an opinion on how they should have played the game that day. He was a stand-up, funny, hardworking man, who was frugal in a way that became a running family joke. Above all, Bob loved his family fiercely.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; their children Robby (Shelly) Ferguson, Michael (Jenni) Ferguson, and Bridget Mathiason (Mikey Ronning); grandchildren Griffin, Paris, Izzy, Lakynn, Ryan, Bentley, Paisley, Marley, and Kensington; and great-granddaughter Tessa. He is also survived by siblings Bev (Sandy) Ferguson, Gary (Claire) Ferguson, Helen (Roy) Radke, Susan Kuehn (Bob), Steven Deruiter, Louie (Jodi) Ferguson, Neil (Lisa) Ferguson, and Virginia (Jeff) Johnson; sisters-in-law Colleen Klukus and Kitty (Rick) Millen; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by siblings Denny Ferguson, Kathy Ferguson, Ronnie Burfield, and Terry Ferguson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
