Robert “Bob” Dubke

Robert E. Dubke, 82, of Rochester, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024.

Bob was born April 29, 1941 in Mankato, MN to H.P. and Miriam (Herr) Dubke. He was a graduate of Mankato High School and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Mankato State. While at Mankato State, Bob met Mardell Stuedemann and they were united in marriage on June 25, 1966 in Glencoe, MN.  Bob began teaching and then returned to college at the University of Colorado Boulder, to earn another Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. Bob worked for IBM for over 20 years. He was a member of the Rochester Amateur Radio Club, a life member of the IEEE, and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bob loved to play golf, spending time with his Corgi, Henry and relaxing on his boat on the Mississippi River. He enjoyed coffee with friends and traveling with Mardell. He was always helping others, and could fix anything. Lately, he enjoyed teaching his grandson how to build electronics and circuitry. Up until his death, Bob was still creating Bluetooth projects. Bob was incredibly intelligent but had a witty sense of humor to accompany his intellectual side. He was a loving and supportive caregiver to his family. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his grandson, Lucas.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Mardell; daughter, Karna (Russ) Halverson of Stillwater, MN and grandson, Lucas Halverson. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Cole, and by his parents.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester, with Rev. Adam Koglin officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood East Cemetery. Condolences

The family of Robert “Bob” Dubke has received the following condolences.

Bob and Mardy were wonderful neighbors of us when we lived in Rochester from 2011-2013. I have good memories of the both of them. It was sad to hear about the death of Bob. May the Lord be with his family in their time of sorrow. Eternal rest grant unto Bob, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.

We enjoyed living across the street from Bob for almost 15 years. He was always very excited to share his latest project and could frequently be seen taking his dog for walks around the cul de sac.  He enjoyed growing tomatoes in the summertime and was always willing to share with us! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of loss.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  He will be missed at class reunions.  Prayers to you and your family.

Bob was a remarkable man who led a full and accomplished life. He was a true engineer, always looking to solve problems, with a sharp mind and a kind heart. He will be remembered for his intelligence, love for his family and his corgies, and willingness to help others.

We will always be grateful for Bob's help in finding our homes, including the one we live in now. He was a true professional and a pleasure to work with.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bob's falling asleep. I spoke with him while I was driving to Milwaukee, and we had made plans to get together today for lunch. Two hours later, Mardy called to let me know that he passed away. Such a sudden loss. Bob was a wonderful fiend. He will be missed by many!
