The family of Richard “Dick” Wayne Rud has received the following condolences.

Our hearts go out to you NJ and you are in our prayers. I feel so very blessed to have known your father. It was always so wonderful to see him when he would come to visit to you. His stories and loving heart will  be remembered always.

Petra,Rick and Andreanna

So sorry to hear about Dick. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.

NJ and family members.  I did not have the pleasure or the honor of meeting your father, but from what the obit says, he was definitely a very strong person who made a difference in this world.  To know him was to love him, as you all did. The way you are honoring him shows us all how much he taught you to love, to be understanding,  to teach,  to listen and to be the best at everything possible.  What a legacy.

May God be with you all during this time..You have a lot to be thankful for and you should celebrate his life here on earth as often as you can.

Love

Becky

Dear Rud family, I am so sorry for your loss.  It was my honor to have worked with Dick in the Democratic Farmer Labor Party in Rochester. I have fond memories of him and Joe Guzinski taking me under their wing at a State Convention in St. Paul. I still tell stories from that convention! He was a wonderful man and the DFL Party is better because of his many years of dedicated service.

Cyndi Bennett Lee

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Rud family. We are NJ'S neighbors back in Texas and had the great pleasure of meeting Dick on several occasions. Dick was a very warm,thoughtful, & outgoing person always cracking jokes & having a smile on his face; even until the very end. He was a great man who raised a wonderful daughter who we both love & consider the mother of our neighborhood. I have unfortunately experienced the hardship of losing loved ones & the thing that kept me going was believing that they were in a better place & that we would see them again someday. There are two bibical scriptures that I would like to share with the family that comforted me during my time of loss: 2corinthians 5th ch. verses 6-8 which say be of good courage for we walk by faith & not by sight, to be away from the body is to be present with the Lord; & the second is Philippians ch. 1 verse 21 which say to live is Christ but to die is gain. I hope that something I have said will bring peace during this difficult time. May God bless you all.

                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                 The Godfrey Family

Thoughts and prayers go out to Rud Family, especially his daughter NJ.

A Prayer in Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.
Robert Frost

We are so sorry that we can't make it to the funeral as he meant so much to us.   We were so happy that he and Joan were with us in Arizona.  Your dad was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his time in Arizona and being the president of the  lapidary club and doing the mystery trips.  He never complained even when he was with us just before he went to Austin to visit Normajean and family.  You are all so lucky to have had him in your lives.  He loved you all very much.  We hope that your faith will help you get through this very hard and sad time.  Our prayers are with you.     Love to all of you.  Hoff and Dee

I was most fortunate to visit with Dick when he was in Austin a few weeks ago.  It was a blessing to be with his family and see how happy he was watching the boys and girls play ball.  We had great conversation just like old times, never letting on he was suffering.  What a man.  I had more respect for him than words could ever express.  He was a pillar of his community and he served it well.  He was always looking out for his fellow man and woman.  Truly will be missed by all.  Godspeed my friend.

NJ, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers of comfort and peace. I understand how hard it is for a daughter to lose her Daddy...tw

So sorry for your loss.Dick was a very special person and taught me alot while growing up in the scouts and i am very greatful for knowing him.I am also glad i had a chance to see him again in the last year and thank him for all he did.He will be missed by all who new him.  Randy Goodenough

Our thoughts & prayers are with you in this difficult time.  Our deepest sympathy.

I am so happy that I was able to visit with Dick just four weeks ago at Normajean's home in Austin.  As always he was cheerful and full of conversation.  My love to all of you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Dick will be remembered for his big heart, any time Dad (Howie) was in St Marys hospitol Dick was always their checking in on him.  When Dick was passing though St Peter he would stop in Ace Hardware for a quick conversation and a laugh or two or three.  Never a dull conversation happened when Dick was involved.
