The memorial service for Richard D. “Dick” Irvin will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Joel Haak officiating. Visitation will be on held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston at a later date.
Mr. Irvin, 74, of Rochester died Saturday, November 25th at his home surrounded by his family. Dick was born May 13, 1943 in Austin, MN to David and Olga Swanson Irvin. He graduated from Adams High School in 1961. Dick was a US Army Veteran. On October 12, 1968, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Whipple, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester and the couple lived in Grand Meadow for eight years before settling in Rochester. He graduated from Rochester Community College and worked as a Journeyman Carpenter for many years. Dick was a long-time union member, a member and past commander of the American Legion, and member of the Elks, the 40/8, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Suzanne; three children, Laura Irvin of Minneapolis, Matthew (Sherry) Irvin of Rochester, Michael Irvin of Austin; four grandchildren, Kaylyn Irvin Marcinak, Adam Irvin, Ethan Irvin, and Ella Irvin Marcinak; and four siblings, Patricia (Earle) Stevemer of Sleepy Eye, Robert (Connie) Irvin, Donald (Renita) Irvin both of Rose Creek, and Susan Irvin (Kathy Swiger) of Alexandria, Virginia. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. He was loved and will be missed by his family.
Dick loved woodworking, hunting, watching his grandchildren play sports, and his dog, Archie.

My thoughts are with the Irvin family. These are the toughest things to go through. Especially around the holidays. Remember though he is not suffering and resting with many angels in heaven. I worked with Sherry for many years.
Tony and I are very sorry for your loss. We will miss seeing Dick busy with projects in his shop and in the yard. He was always so kind to us.
