Richard and Margaret Boutelle

Richard Irwin (Dick) Boutelle, 89, of Rochester, MN, joined his wife in Heaven on November 23, 2022.  Richard passed peacefully while under Hospice Care at Ebeneezer Ridges – Care Center in Burnsville, MN.  where he and his wife Margaret (Peggy) lived for 3 ½ years.  Richard joined his beloved wife, Margaret, less than a day after she passed.

Richard was born February 25, 1933 in Rochester, Minnesota to Harold and Elsie (Patterson) Boutelle.  Richard graduated from Rochester High School in 1951 and Rochester Junior College in 1953.   He then entered the Air Force.  On June 7, 1954, Richard married Margaret Jean Hansen in Rochester, MN.  After completing his tour of duty at Hamilton Air Force in California, they returned to Rochester where they raised a family of four children and resided until 2019.  Richard and Peggy purchased Harold’s Auto Electric from Richard’s parents in 1973 and helped run it though their working years.  They also operated a Shaklee product distribution business in the 1970s through 1990s.  Dick enjoyed spending time at Bethany United Methodist church and participated in Trustee’s for several years.

Dick “Red Shoes!” loved volleyball, ping pong, playing cards, old cars, collecting miniature cars and trains and watching sports. He enjoyed his years leading several different playing card clubs. He and Peggy loved traveling, camping, church Family Camp and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his four children, daughter Condoleeza Michaels (Donnie Warren) of Oakdale, MN; daughter Diane Witt of Rochester, MN; son Steve (Patricia) Boutelle of Fort Collins, CO; son Mike (Nanetta) Boutelle of Farmington, MN; twelve grandchildren, Carrie, Michael, Lori, Jennifer, Keri, Branden, Amanda, Candra, Holly, Brad, Alexandra and Cassandra and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister’s children Jeff (Amy) Van Devender of CO; Pamela (Derek) Mattes of KS; and his brother Gerald (Judy) Boutelle of IL; and their 3 children; Kathlena (Stephen) Bruns of MO; Shari (John) Morgan of IL; Gregory (Lindsay) Boutelle of IL.

A joint Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 22, 2023 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.

Margaret Jean (Peggy) Boutelle, 87, of Rochester, MN, passed to start her journey to Heaven on November 22, 2022.  Peggy passed peacefully under Hospice Care at Ebeneezer-Arbor Lane Care Center in Burnsville, MN.  where she and her husband Richard lived for 3 ½ years.  Lovingly united in marriage, Richard joined her passage less than 24 hours later, on November 23, 2022.

Peggy was born July 22, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Hans and Clara (Campbell) Hansen.  Peggy graduated from Rochester High School in 1953.  She then attended Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa for one year.  On June 7, 1954, Peggy married Richard I. Boutelle in Rochester, MN.  After Richard completed his tour in the Air Force in California, they returned to Rochester where they raised a family of four children and resided until 2019.  Peggy and Richard purchased Harold’s Auto Electric from Richard’s parents in 1973 and helped run it though their working years.  She also owned House of Tiny Treasures, a collection of miniature dolls and accessories and along with her husband, Richard, operated a Shaklee product distribution business in the 1970s through 1990s.  Peggy greatly enjoyed spending time at church and participated in choir and administrative board for several years.

Peggy loved photography, creating, buying and selling miniatures including porcelain dolls, creating jewelry, playing cards and watching movies.  She and Richard loved traveling, camping, church Family Camp and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard, her four children, daughter Condoleeza Michaels (Donnie Warren) of Oakdale, MN; daughter Diane Witt of Rochester, MN; son Steve (Patricia) Boutelle of Fort Collins, CO; son Mike (Nanetta) Boutelle of Farmington, MN; twelve grandchildren, Carrie, Michael, Lori, Jennifer, Keri, Branden, Amanda, Candra, Holly, Brad, Alexandra and Cassandra and 16 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Bill (Jean) Hansen and their daughter, Carolyn.
