Regina Henriette Giere

Regina Henriette (Wittkowski) Giere, age 79, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 1, 2021, due to natural causes.

Regina was born October 4, 1941 in Germany and lived there until she was 15. Regina’s mother met and married an American stationed at the air force base in the 1950s. The new family moved to Canada for a year before moving to Michigan, and then North Carolina where they settled. After graduating from high school Regina moved to Colorado to work. While there she met her own service member, Michael A. Giere, who was stationed at the army base in Colorado Springs. They married on June 19, 1965 and were together for 44 years before he passed away in 2009.

The couple farmed in the Chatfield area until 1978 and then moved to Rochester. Regina worked for 19 years at Pace Dairy and then Godfather’s Pizza for 14 years before retiring. Regina loved interacting with the Godfather’s customers and staff.

Regina was known for her witty comebacks, fierce stubbornness, and never having hearing aids that worked. She loved her grandchildren, reading, watching NCIS, going to the casino, and talking about politics.

Regina is survived by her four children; Susan Miller (Tim) of Dover, James Giere of Rochester, Steve (Kris) Giere of Mantorville, and Marsha Giere of Rochester; and six grandchildren; Teigen, Emma, Saige, Alissa, Nick, and Sam. She was proceeded in death by her husband Michael, her parents, and one brother.

A special thank you to Marsha and James for their loving care of Regina these past years.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Zion Cemetery in Rock Dell, MN with Rev. Anjanette Bandel officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Regina’s family.
