Piccola Dorae Carnahan

Piccola Dorae Carnahan, 86, of Rochester, MN, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Rochester Methodist Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Piccola was born November 11, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Freeman and Leatha Renner. She graduated from Ferguson High School in 1956. On May 14th, 1966, she married Frank M. Carnahan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Gilman, Iowa until 1972 when Frank took a new position and they moved to Hudson, Iowa. Frank passed away in 1994, and Piccola continued to live in Hudson until 1998. After many trips to Rochester, she chose to move there to spend more time with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren.

Piccola loved her granddaughters and spent her time supporting them with schoolwork and at their sporting and 4H events. She enjoyed crocheting, bird watching and doing puzzles with her family and friends. She was a member of Rochester Covenant Church and sang in the choir. In her spare time, she worked part time at The Candleman, A Cut Above Home and Shades of Green.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary caregivers who supported Piccola during her final years. Their kindness, compassion and care made a positive impact and allowed her to fulfill her wish of staying at home.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia (David) Adams of Byron, MN; granddaughters Danielle Adams of Kasson, MN and Mackenzie (Tyler) Bratsch of Le Seuer, MN; step-sons Frank Jr. “Bud” Carnahan and James Carnahan, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister Phyllis (Harvey) Finders of Camdenton, MO; nieces Tammy (Scott) Sonksen of Linn Creek, MO and Jeannie (Pete) Scheiding of Clarksville, TN; and nephew Joel (Kim) Gummert of Gilman, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carnahan, and sister, Aloma Gummert.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorials be designated to Rochester Covenant Church or Paws & Claws Humane Society in Rochester, MN.
