Pelagia (Peggy) Marie Lewis

Pelagia (Peggy) Marie Lewis  – Rochester

Peggy M. Lewis passed away March 18th 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Living in Rochester, MN

Pelagia Marie Prodzinski  was born September 25th, 1930 in Winona County to August and  Marie (Braun) Prodzinski

She attended St Thomas Grade School in Winona, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948 and received a degree in Education from Winona State Teacher’s College. She started her teaching career in Byron Minnesota.

Peggy was married to Donald Lee Lewis on April 6th 1953 and moved with him to Rochester, MN. where they raised 3 Children together.

Peggy was a member of St Pius X parish in Rochester. She taught school there for a number of years. She was a member of WCCW there and led Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts. She also taught CCD and led other youth activities for many years.  .

One of Peggy’s great interests was gardening and she worked hard on her many flower beds over the years.  She was a member and past president of the Rochester Garden and Flower Club. She loved flower arranging and won many ribbons for her work.  As a U of M certified Master Gardener, Peggy taught flower arranging and was a certified judge with the Minnesota Horticultural society.  She was a member of the Young At Heart Singers and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Peggy is survived by her Husband, Donald Lewis and her children David (Susie) Lewis, Sara Jane (David) Brutscher and Beth (Dean) Black, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Lora Marie and her brothers Kenneth and Delos Prodzinski.

The family will be planning a memorial in the summer. Arrangements are with Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.  Memorials in Peggy’s name to The Rochester Garden and flower Club, please.
