Pearl Braun passed away in her Rochester home, surrounded by family, during early afternoon of April 5, 2011. Pearl Braun, 87, was born in Elba, MN to Ottilia (Page) Boettcher and Reinhold Boettcher. She later married Aloysious J. “Bud” Braun on June 25, 1941, in Rochester, MN.
Pearl and Bud were parents to 7 children; grandparents to 19 young adults; and great-grandparents to 13 young people. Pearl is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and five siblings.
After marriage, Pearl’s roles included wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Later in life, Pearl worked as a cafeteria assistant for the Rochester Public Schools and also served as an official election judge. Pearl approached life challenges with hard work. She was generous in her help to family and community.
Pearl made her family the priority and center of her life. She was a caring and compassionate matriarch who was greatly loved.
Survivors include her children; Sharon (late-Gene) Cook of independence, MN; Michael (Eleanor) Braun of Rochester, MN.; Carol Marie Braun of Rochester, MN; Virginia (David) Bigelow of Elgin, MN; Kathleen (Lewis) Schoppers of Rochester, MN; Richard ( Becky) Braun of Buffalo, MN; Anne (Jeff) Gunderson of Rochester, MN; and her sister Viola Ehlenfelt of Elk River, MN.

The funeral mass for Pearl Braun will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. Harry Jewison officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
