Paul William Sexton

Paul William Sexton, 34 years old, died peacefully Friday, March 14, at his home in Pleasant Grove, following a three and a half year battle with Ewings Sarcoma and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, leaving behind his wife, Sarah, and four children.

Paul William Sexton was born October 10, 1979, in Rochester, to Thomas and Betty Lou (Bakken) Sexton. Paul attended Stewartville schools. He drove dump truck for Gartner Trucking, JMJ Haulers and Wigham Trucking before buying his own truck and leasing on with Rochester Sand and Gravel under Paul Sexton Trucking. His work and his trucks were a big part of his life until his cancer diagnosis in 2010. Paul also owned Pit Stop Portable Outhouses with his wife.

Paul met and fell in love with Sarah Ellsworth in July of 1997. They married on July 6, 2002 at United Methodist Church in St. Charles. During their time together, they lived in Chatfield before making their permanent home in Pleasant Grove and raising their four children, Justin (15) Tyler (14) Joey (10) and Ella (9.) Paul fought his long battle specifically for his children.

Although Paul’s time on Earth seemed too short, he impacted so many lives. It was Paul’s daily routine to drive around Pleasant Grove when not working to “see what the neighborhood was doing.” Anyone who has ever met Paul could never forget him and his willingness to do anything for anyone.  Because of this, Paul’s large amount of family and close friends formed Team Pauly, which coordinates a yearly benefit motorcycle ride. Paul kept busy with his family and friends riding motorcycle, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, fishing and boating, and sharing his vast knowledge of such a variety of things with the people around him. He was truly wise beyond his years.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sarah, of Pleasant Grove; Sons, Justin, Tyler and Joey; Daughter, Ella; Father, Thomas Sexton of Pleasant Grove; Brothers and Sisters, LouAnn (Dennis) Mensink of Stewartville, Wes Sexton (Heather Horstmann) of Pleasant Grove, Thomas (Heather) Sexton of Sargeant, Jerry (Charlene) Sexton of Pleasant Grove, Colleen (Gary) Louks of Stewartville, John (Coleen) Sexton of Rochester, Carmen (Neal) Gartner of Chatfield, and Mark Sexton of Rochester; in-laws, Marlan and Janet (Schweitzer) Ellsworth of St. Charles, Jaime (Kris) Putzier of Dover, Melissa (Jacob) Zamzow of Eyota, and T.J. Ellsworth (Jackie Bies) of St. Charles; 25 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Sexton, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Dear Sarah and Family,

We would like to give you our sympothys of  the passing of Paul. We cannnot say enough wonderful things and Paul.  Adam and I both got the oppoetunity to work with him and get to know you more.  We are all having a difficult time but we just keep remembering all the great memories as I'm sure your family has been doing.  Paul put up one heck of a fight to try and beat his cancer.  He couldn't have asked for a more supportive and AMAZING WIFE AND CHILDREN aling with family and friends.  Paul may be goon from this this earth now but we all know the Lord gained an outstanding angle that will watch over everyone.  I have to say Paul was one of the best guys I've ever met all about working and providing for his family.  Cherish and hold on to all of the memories and puctures you have and one day you will meet again.
