Mr. Christians, 56, of Rochester, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Paul was diagnosed with cancer Jan. 2010, at this time everyone associated with Paul was shocked and devastated. Paul was accepting of his illness, the only hardship he endured was to be sidelined from driving semi. Paul lived to get well enough to drive again, however this was not in Gods plans. Paul’s trucking pals from Lawrence kept Paul informed of their jobs. Paul was one whom the truckers called for directions, advice and most of all to chit chat with. Paul felt needed to be strong for all of us. We know Paul is in heaven with his beloved little chihuahua dog Dobie. We know that those two are continuing on their adventures together. God bless that we had Paul with us.
Paul was born December 31, 1953 in Mason City, Iowa. He attended Garner-Wooden Crystal Lake High School and later moved to Minnesota at the age of 15 graduating from Hayfield High School in 1972. Paul married Kimberley Henry on March 11, 1983 in Rochester. Paul moved to Rochester in 1983. Paul drove milk truck for Rock Dell Creamery from 1974-1994 and also worked for Lawrence Trucking from 1994, till the time of his death. Mrs. Christians works at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberley; son, Dan Christians of Rochester; father, Wynton Christians of Hayfield, MN; siblings, Gary (Marty) Christians of Lehigh, Iowa and Michael (Signe) Christians. Paul is also survived by his mother-in-law Mary Ann Henry of West Concord, who kept Paul going with mechanical projects that he thoroughly enjoyed over the years. Paul was also survived by his many friends and especially his co-workers at Lawrence Transportation who Paul thought highly of as an extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Muriel; brother, Lynn Christians and infant sister, Linda Christians.
Paul lived to work, he was a dedicated “workaholic”. When he wasn’t driving semi-truck, he could be found tinkering with his beloved lawnmowers. In his neighborhood if there was a lawnmower to be fixed or a lawn to be mowed, Paul was there. He also loved to travel with his wife and son. His last trip was to Duluth over the July 4th weekend as difficult as it was for him, he wanted one last family trip. Paul also enjoyed movies, jokes, gambling, drinking coffee and chatting with his friends. Paul also leaves behind his little 14 year old Ratt Terrier named Jax. They had a special relationship after Paul became ill. If Paul had a bad day, so did Jax and if Paul was perky, Jax also was perky. Paul will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family who will redirect to various charities.
