Patricia Lucille Kasey

Patricia Lucille Flynn Kasey went to heaven on Monday, March 31, 2025. She had a second stroke seven months ago and it took her voice. That was difficult on Patty, but she found other ways to communicate.

Patricia was born at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester on March 11, 1942, to Lucille (Nigon) and Steve Flynn. She was the oldest of five children. Patty grew up in Northwest Rochester and graduated from Lourdes High School, then off to College of St. Teresa in Winona. After college she and two friends, Pat & Colleen, moved to Denver, CO. The threesome remained lifelong friends, often traveling together. Patty truly cherished their friendships. In Denver, Patty met her future husband, Winford (Wink) Kasey. After they were married, they moved back to Rochester to raise their three children. They include Karla (Kent) Severson and their children, Riley & Savanna; Paula Kasey and her children, Brianna (Nathan) & Tyler; and Dan (Laura) Kasey and their children Louis & Raymond.

Patty was a devoted Mayo Clinic employee for 49 years. For the majority of her career, Patty worked as a Medical Librarian in the Pathology Department.

Family and sports were everything to Patty. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews’ games. She was an avid Twins fan, attending spring training camps in Florida, as well as many games at the Minnesota stadium.

Patty enjoyed traveling, both domestic and overseas, including a mission trip to Vanuatu. She loved her dogs, her lifelong companions. She was also an avid reader, often sitting with a book on her deck.

Patty’s Catholic faith sustained her through difficult times. She was a lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She lived at Madonna Towers for the past two years. A special thank you to their wonderful staff, including Melanie Hanson, NP.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; brothers, Jim Flynn and Vince (Sharon) Flynn; sister, Bridget (Don) Skrukrud; brother-in-law, Richard Battey; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Wink; and sister, Linda Battey.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Pius X.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following.

I have so many wonderful memories of Patty as we watched Dan and Javan at games and other activities. She was a kind lady and loved her family. So sorry for your loss.

Makes me very sad to hear of Patty’s passing! Patty was a sweetheart! Met Patty over 50 years ago when our husbands played softball together. We used to bring our little girls to the games in infant seats. To Patty’s family, I am so sorry you lost a good mother!

Dear Bridget and family, we are sorry to learn that God has taken your sister home. Please know of our love, hugs and prayers, Nancy & Tom

Karla,
