Patricia Lorraine Hicks

Patricia Lorraine Hicks, 82, of Rochester MN, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20 at Augustana Health Center in Minneapolis.

She was born Patricia Slorby on Nov. 20, 1927 in Bismarck ND.   She graduated from Central High School in Rochester and attended Rochester Community College.  After marrying James George Hicks in Shawano WI Aug. 28, 1948, they raised 10 children, first near Green Bay WI, later moving to Rochester.   Pat’s greatest joys in life were her loving family and her church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband James; her mother and father, Calmer and Viva Allensworth Slorby; and by her youngest son Paul.

Pat leaves behind her daughters, Theresa Becker-Ersland of Austin MN,  and Paula Keller and Rose Kent of Minneapolis; sons Charles, Patrick and Phillip Hicks of Rochester; daughter and son-in-law Mary and John Alderman of Minneapolis; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Todd Helland of River Falls WI; son and daughter-in-law John and Kerry Hicks of Rochester; sisters Joanne Hicks of Rochester and Elvera Fressel of Fargo ND; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.     She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, the Third Order of St Francis and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 4:30-7 PM at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12 St. SE (507 282 1075) in Rochester.  A rosary will follow at 7 PM.   The funeral will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, Feb. 25 at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1315 12th Avenue Northwest, in Rochester, preceded by a viewing at 9:30.   She will be buried at a later date, next to her husband, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
