The Memorial Service for Nettie M. Kruger will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday February 14, 2015 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Helberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Kruger, 89 of Rochester died surrounded by her family at Season’s Hospice on Friday February 6, 2015 of pancreatic cancer.
Nettie was born on August 14, 1925 in Millville, MN to Frank and Helen (Seim) Springer. Nettie was raised in Millville and moved to Rochester following WWII. She married Donald “Dutch” Kruger in October of 1946 at Peace United Church in Rochester. The couple was married for 68 years. Mr. Kruger died on March 12, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Jan Hanf, Douglas (Lynn) Kruger, JoEllen (Brad) McLagan, Jeanne (Duane) Hamm, Mark (Sue) Kruger all of Rochester and Tracy Gibbs of San Antonio , Texas ; Two daughter-in-laws, Barb Kruger of Pine Island and Mary Bodelson-Kruger of Lake City as well as three sisters, Ardella Hodkinson of Rochester, Marilyn (Larry) Kappers of Spring Valley and Evelyn Moen of Rochester, a sister-in-law Charlotte Springer of Elgin, grandchildren Troy Kruger, Michele Kruger, Stacy Hanf, Jesse (Laurie) Hanf, Jason (Stephanie) Hanf, Jeffrey (Heidi) Hanf, Christian (Megan) Kruger, Joshua (Laura) Kruger, Marissa (Arlie) Kruger, Matthew (Kati) Kruger, Luke Kruger, Amanda Kruger, Clayton (Shari) McLagan, Katie (Alex) McLagan, Vanessa Hamm, Nicole (Chris) Brumm, Allison Kruger, Chelsey (Chris) Sharplin, Brandon Gibbs, great-grandchildren Katelyn, Conner, Alana, Austin, Allivia, Arianna, Briana, Faith, Riley, Jaislyn and Hailey.
Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, sons Dennis and Rick Kruger, an infant daughter Theresa Kruger, sisters Myrtle (Harold) Ziebell, Hazel (Francis) Cox, Elsie (Mert) Folkert, Lucille (Wilmer) Rietman, Viola (Paul) Wiebusch, Verna (Vince) Gerken, brothers Arnold (Marion) Springer and Clarence Springer and Frank Springer.
Nettie loved gardening, canning, and bird-watching and was especially known for her tomatoes. She provided produce for all of her family and friends. She was proud to have baked many pies for the Eagles Cancer Telethon. She also loved to quilt, making all of her children and grandchildren quilts. Nettie also liked to travel, many times to San Antonio, TX. She also enjoyed going to flea markets, playing 500, and going to concerts with her daughters.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of the Kruger family. I have such wonderful memories of growing up in such a small neighborhood and knowing your mom and dad. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
So very sorry to read of your Mom's passing. Once again we are unable to attend this funeral such as with your Dad as we are down in Texas. Our deepest sympathy go out to you all in the family and want you to know that our hearts go out to each of you. Your Mom was a beautiful, wonderful friend and fun lady to be around. We used to have so much fun years ago with both your parents. We have all those wonderful memories and hope you will contain all of yours as well. May God grant you all peace now knowing your Mom is now going to be with your Dad.
