Nadine Jean “Sis” Mewhorter

The memorial service for Nadine J. “Sis” Mewhorter will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Father Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg, MN. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.

Mrs. Mewhorter, 79, of Rochester, died peacefully Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home of an illness she fought for nine months. Nadine was born June 13, 1938 in Wabasha to Michael and Martha Evers Blee.

Sis, a lifelong resident of Rochester graduating from Lourdes High School in 1957. She married Dwaine Mewhorter June 1, 1968 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester. Dwaine died March 15, 2008. Sis was a clerk at the Colonial Lanes in Rochester for 42 years, and later worked at Strikers Lounge in Stewartville for ten years. She started both junior and senior leagues in Rochester. She was inducted in to the local and state Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary and also a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Survivors include her four children, Vickie Mewhorter, Jeanne (Mark) Hanson, Patrick Mewhorter, all of Rochester, and D. Mike (Chrissy) Mewhorter of Lakeville, MN; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hugh Blee of Mantorville and Paul “Ronnie” (Mona) Blee of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sis was preceded in death by her husband. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sis's passing. She was a great women who  treated everybody with respect. I spent a lot of time with her and her family.  She taught my kids a lot and was a great friend to my entire family. My prayers go out to her family she will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to all of Sis' family.  I am sorry I will be unable to attend the memorial, but I will be thinking of you all.   I was lucky to visit with Sis at her home with Aunt Myrtle in 2015.  She inherited a great sense of humor from her parents. RIP Sis.

Working with her at Colonial were some amazing years that she taught me so much over the years I will never forget.  Things she taught me carry on in me and how I do my job and live my life.  She will be greatly missed by so many.  Hugs and prayers to the whole family.
