Monika F. Vale

The funeral Mass for Monika F. Vale will be 4:00PM Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Madonna Towers Chapel in Rochester with the Rev. James D. Russell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Vale, age 90, of Rochester, died at Saint Marys Hospital on Sunday, August 22, 2010.

Monika Florence Dombrowski was born May 4, 1920 in Lambert, Montana to Anthony and Josephine (Godlewski) Dombrowski. After graduation, she attended nursing school in Minneapolis and moved to Rochester in 1941 where she was a nurse at Mayo Clinic in the radiology department until her retirement in 1975 after 35 years.  Monika married Chester R. Vale in October of 1955 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Chester was a journeyman electrician and worked many years for Foster Electric. He died October 8, 2000. Monika had been a resident of Madonna Towers for many years.

Monika and her husband enjoyed traveling.  After her husband’s death, she settled down to a slower pace of life and loved drawing, especially birds.  Monika enjoyed music and taught herself to play and sang in the Madonna Towers Choir.

She is survived by a nephew, Dwayne Towne of Las Vegas, Neveda; two stepdaughters, Joann Mahoney of Rochester and Barbara McBeth of Belgrade, Montana and many step-grandchildren.

Monika was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 step-son.

Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws of Rochester.
