Mildred A. “Millie” Decker

Mrs. Decker, 95 of Rochester, MN died Friday, March 16, 2012 at her residence at Samaritan Bethany.

Millie was born December 31, 1916 in Charleston, IL to Ludwig and Louisa (Wetzel) Wilhelm.  As a young child the family moved to Hayfield, MN.  She married Lester J. Decker at St. Johns Catholic Church in Rochester.  As a couple they owned and operated several restaurants in Rochester.

Millie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the Minnesota Twins.  She also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and evening dinners.

She is survived by her son Dale (Pat) Decker, eight grandchildren; Andy Decker (fiancée Jody), Doreen Ryan (fiancée Kevin), Chris Decker (fiancée Roni), Chad (Becky) Decker, Meg Decker, Shelly (Troy) Bierke, Kerry (Jody) Brossard, Kyle Brossard, and eleven great grandchildren.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Mary and grandsons Steve and Corey.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Pius X with the Rev. Charlie I. Collins officiating.  A visitation will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, March 18, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

I worked for Les and Millie at the Martin Dining Room and Holiday Inn south many, many years ago. That lady was a worker! I don't know how she did it. Work all day, usually seven days a week, raise a family and keep Lester in check. She was a miracle worker. She will be missed.
