Mike “Packy” Packman

Michael Thomas Packman, age 60 of Chester, MN passed peacefully on May 5, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Marys Campus in Rochester.

Mike “Packy” was born on January 1, 1958 in Rochester to Thomas and Katherine (Weise) Packman. He graduated from Mayo High School. He moved to Florida for a time, and upon returning married Mary Sexton. The couple was later divorced. Together they had two children. Packy worked for years at Marigold Dairy, did construction work, and was a faithful employee of Shar’s Country Palace in Rochester for years. Packy loved riding his Harley, deer hunting, and was a staunch Vikings fan. He especially loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his life partner, Sue Sommers of Chester; his children, Jamie (Kenny) Turbenson of LeRoy, MN, and Josh (Christa) Packman of Canton, MN; grandchildren, Brady, Autumn, Carter, and Heather; great-grandson, Kyler; three sisters, Carol Becker of Florida, Barb (Matt) Olson of Rochester, and Sue (Larry) Tolasek of Texas; two brothers, Jim (Ginger) Packman of Florida, and Jeff (Linda) Funk of Dexter, MN; nieces, Kelly, Brana, Shannon, Amanda; and nephews Cory, Shane and Austin.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Packy will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.
